The new year has gotten off to a rough start for fans of folk and roots music, with news of the passing of three beloved members of our community: 37-year-old Koady Chaisson of the East Pointers; Eagle and Hawk founder Vince Fontaine; and Canadian blues legend Harpdog Brown.

Now, Harpdog’s manager is inviting us to take part in a special tribute to his musical legacy.

He writes:  [Harpdog] would have turned 60 on January 28 and having the blues community come together like this would have made him immensely proud and happy.

Back in 2019, he recorded a cover of Satchmo’s “What a Wonderful World” during the making of his last album, For Love & Money, produced by Steve Dawson.

You can here it here:

Please think of what the song means to you, or think about your relationship or experience with Dog, or about anything that brings you joy and happiness.

Now get out your phones and submit a short video clip in MP4 or MOV format! (maximum 60 seconds in landscape mode, 1920 x 1080, horizontal, NOT vertical or portrait mode). Your audio content will not be used but feel free to sing along if you like.

We’re not looking for scenery; we’re looking for people enjoying life. And pets, but ideally pets with people. Or dancing, walking, fishing, having a scotch, anything really, just nothing that would be considered “adult” content. And no smoking please. YouTube loves to block smoking. We want this to be an all-ages thing. Please don’t add any text to the video, just the raw footage.

Feel free to share the form in case I’ve missed anyone.

And in his words, “Dog Bless.”

Submission Deadline: January 28, 2022
