David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter, who has become known as “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star). A truly authentic folk singer, Francey had the honour of receiving the prestigious SOCAN Folk Music Award as well as taking home the Grand Prize in both the International Acoustic Music Award and in the Folk category for the John Lennon Songwriting Award. “David’s straightforward songs tell honest stories of real people and real places. Homeward Bound: The Music of Simon and Garfunkel

January 10 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm EST
Hugh’s Room Live, 2261 Dundas St. W.
Toronto, Ontario

Friday, January 10, 2019 | 8:30pm Homeward Bound The Music of Simon and Garfunkel Presented by John Sheard Featuring Jory Nash, David Celia, John Sheard $30 Advance / $35 Door * One of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s. Their biggest hits reached the number one on singles charts worldwide. Simon & Garfunkel won 10 Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Their final album together, Bridge over Troubled Water, is ranked at number 51 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Richie Unterberger described them as “the most successful folk-rock duo of the 1960s” and one of the most popular artists from the decade. They are among the best-selling music artists, having sold more than 100 million records. To Art Garfunkel and Paul Simonl, however, the years they spent together, and the music they made together, are now merely an early chapter in their continuing personal sagas, with their attendant triumphs and disappointments. For those of us who lived through those times, though, hearing their songs never fails to bring back certain moments in our own lives – and with startling vividness. In January, the much-celebrated band leader, John Sheard will bring to Hugh’s Room Live the music by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Joining him on stage includes a handful of the city’s finest musicians to pay tribute to the duo that became the voice of a generation. website: * Advertised pricing excludes taxes and ticketing fees.
