Parallel Independence: A Musical Journey From The Seventies To The Present
June 12 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT$10
“We felt we were the lucky ones, doing the right thing in a brand new way, and being individually and collectively self-defining without the jury of a Canadian Idol to judge us. Just peer feedback, advice, and collaboration. In spite of all the ups and downs, successes and failures, there’s still a thankfulness, pride and gratitude to have been part of a parallel and independent world”.
Being one of the few with a camera at some of these tours, coffeehouses, festivals and farmhouses, and having kept the negatives and many recordings, David Woodhead is the perfect person to vividly describe some of this history, telling the stories and connecting them right through to our lives today.
Ever the explorer of wide musical territories, David has performed and recorded with many influential artists including Perth County Conspiracy, Garnet and Stan Rogers, Don Ross, Oliver Schroer, Brent Titcomb, Loreena McKennitt, Valdy, Gil Scott-Heron and David Sanborn. With an unusually expressive touch on the electric bass, he also has developed a unique voice on guitar, piano, mandolin, and fingerstyle ukulele. Recently he has been busy composing and recording music with his own Confabulation project and gigging with Malagasy guitarist Donné Roberts, Nordic classical-folk fusion band Ensemble Polaris and fearless fiddler Anne Lindsay, as well as touring the UK and Australia with master songwriter James Keelaghan.
