Guy Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues, a musician, actor, author, and songwriter. Guy uses a blend of Roots, Blues, Folk, Rock, Rap, Spoken Word, and World Music to comment on, and address, the frustrations of social injustice, touching on historical events, and common life struggles. His background in theater is pronounced through the lyrical storytelling of songs “God’s Gonna Make Things Over” about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, “Welcome to My World”, and “Got Your Letter In My Pocket”. His storytelling is sometimes painful, deep, and real, an earthy contrast to modern-day commercial music, meant to create thought, underlined by gentle tones from his guitar or banjo fingerpicking.
Guy won “Keeping The Blues Alive” Award, and was nominated by The Blues Foundation for Best Acoustic Album of the Year, Best Acoustic Artist of the Year, and Best Instrumentalist. In fact, he’s been nominated nearly two dozen times by the Blues Foundation.
Among hundreds of newspaper appearances, he’s also been featured in articles or reviews by New York Times, Village Voice, Boston Globe, Pulse Magazine, Blues Magazine, Acoustic Guitar, Dirty Linen, Songlines, Blues Blast Magazine, Living Blues, Down At the Crossroads, The San Francisco Chronicle, Association For Independent Music (formerly NAIRD), Playboy Magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), “Folk Alley”, and Sirius.
When asked about his experience as a performer, Guy has replied, “There is no tale so tall that I cannot tell it, nor song so sweet that I cannot sing it.”
Concert is live & streamed. Doors 7pm/ Show 8pm.

A celebrated virtuoso of the Flamenco guitar who has been voted into the top three guitarists in the world (US magazine ‘Guitar Player’), Juan Martín is a native of Andalucía, Spain, where he still has a home in the city of Málaga.
He has recorded 18 albums, mostly as a composer and has several DVDs distributed by Warner Brothers and Mel Bay.
Juan Martin’s original method book ‘El Arte Flamenco de la Guitarra’ is in its eighth print and has opened the complex art of the Flamenco guitar to the whole world and is assiduously studied from Moscow to Beijing to San Francisco and back to Spain. It is now considered to be the ‘bible’ of Flamenco guitar method.
Martin performs with a highly distinctive compositional style formed from his early years in Málaga and developed through wide experience in Madrid, including direct contact with Paco de Lucía, also a Spanish virtuoso flamenco guitarist, composer, and record producer. Further experience came through recordings with the Royal Philharmonic and performances with many iconic artists including Miles Davis.
Juan Martin “has a terrifyingly good technique and an absolute dominance of the guitar, filling the concert hall with crystalline clarity.” – Spanish paper ‘El Mundo’

Event Details
With a reverence for tradition enlivened by a creative contemporary edge, JUNO-nominated Rum Ragged takes a bold approach to the folk music of their Newfoundland and Labrador home. Combining strong vocal harmonies, superb musicianship, and a gift for captivating storytelling this energetic band is a real crowd-pleaser – we guarantee! Come see for yourselves!
Co-founders Aaron Collis and Mark Manning joined forces when they played sessions together in the various bars and pubs along the famous George Street—the area in St. John’s that hums with live music. Joined by fiddler Colin Grant and multi-instrumentalist Zack Nash, Rum Ragged have become first class ambassadors of the island’s rich and glorious living musical tradition.
Much of the band’s material features old songs learned through word of mouth from family and friends and hearing someone sing at a house party, and by hunting in local archives to find traditional tunes. By collecting these revered Newfoundland traditions, the band plays an important role in the preservation of culture unique to The Rock. “For me it’s the stories, and to be able to take a stage not only with the music you like and enjoy, but also the music that means so much to you and your past and your history,” says Manning. History rarely is so much fun.
