The Toronto Blues Society is holding a town hall meeting next month to address concerns about the Maple Blues Awards — after this year’s ceremony produced an all-white winners list, but for Indigenous Artist/Group of the Year winner Crystal Shawanda.
This despite the fact that the Blackburn Brothers were nominated in nine categories.
TBS says this meeting is part of its ongoing commitment to fostering greater transparency and accountability within the organization.
The town hall is open to everyone, including members, musicians and fans, and the organization says it wants to hear everyone’s thoughts.
The event takes place Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET on Zoom.
