Video premiere: The Imagine If – ‘Flowers’

Back in March, we here at Roots Music Canada were pretty stoked to premiere the video for the debut single from The Imagine If’s debut album, Great Expectations — which just came out on Friday.

Singer Alia Logan is a blueswoman who knows how to belt out a song and infuse her performances with a big heap o’ soul.

So, we’re pretty excited to get to debut another video from these guys, this time for their single “Flowers.”

“Flowers is a tune written about hope after death,” the band wrote on YouTube.

“Inspired by the passing of pianist, Eric Lefebvre’s childhood dog and also by the passing of Hilel Slovak from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, at its core, the song is about the reflection that comes with death and how after losing those close to us, we can be inspired to fix bad habits and live a better life in their name.”

The song is a little slower and swampier than the debut single, “Devil’s child,” with plenty of vintage keys once again from Eric Lefebvre.

We’re loving it around here, and we’re sure you will too. Take a look at the video here.
