Alex Cuba has released his first ever holiday triple-single

Grammy winning artist Alex Cuba grew up in Cuba without the tradition of Christmas, but Dec. 25 has always been an important celebration for him: it’s his wedding anniversary.

Perhaps that’s why his first ever holiday single is a romantic one: “Christmas Made For Love.” He offers three versions of it: one in English and two featuring romance languages: Spanish/English and Portuguese/English.

“Christmas Made for Love” (“Para Amarnos Es La Navidad” in Portuguese or “Para Nos Amarmos No Natal” in Spanish) is consistent with Alex’s artistic direction these days: spacious, soulful, and more acoustic than some of his work from a decade ago. There are no sleigh bells or holiday schmaltz. Just some retro elements, a Latin flare and Alex’s delicately soft vocal delivery.

Of particular note is the Portuguese version of the song featuring a duet with Brazilian artist Roberta Campos, whom Alex describes as “a gifted singer” and “one of the most beautiful voices I’ve had the pleasure to duet with.”

The release comes as Alex celebrates the 20th anniversary of his solo debut, Humo de Tobaco and more than 20 years of success in the global Latin music scene, starting with his early days with the Juno-nominated Puentes Brothers and extending to his multiple Latin Grammys and his recent Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.

The single is Alex’s third release of 2023, following his ninth studio album, “El Swing Que Yo Tengo” and his duet with his father and twin brother on “Tiene Sabor.”

He will be following the release with a new series of tour dates in the New Year.
