Kyle McKearney shares new live video for ‘Rebel Child’ from sophomore album, A Traveler’s Lament

It’s been a whirlwind past few weeks for Kyle McKearney. On top of releasing his sophomore album, A Traveler’s Lament, the Alberta-based Americana artist also earned Contemporary Singer of the Year honours at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and was named Roots Artist of the Year and Fans’ Choice winner at the 2023 Country Music Alberta Awards. In the midst of all that, Kyle launched A Traveler’s Lament with two sold out shows at Calgary’s Ironwood Stage, and the excitement of those nights is captured in a new live video for his latest single, “Rebel Child.”

The performance clearly shows the chemistry that Kyle and his band have developed over a year of consistent touring, with its twangy groove coming across just as powerfully on stage as on record. Working once again with Juno-winning producer Russell Broom (Jann Arden, Paul McCartney, Lindsay Ell), the 10 songs on A Traveler’s Lament display Kyle’s ever-evolving skills at combining country, blues, R&B and rock ‘n’ roll, all driven by his soulful voice and engaging storytelling, previewed on the album’s previous singles “Mercy,” “River Rain” and “Grandfather” that have pushed Kyle’s total streams to over two million.

Since the release of Kyle’s 2021 debut album Down-Home, he has received over 21 other notable accolades, among them two Canadian Country Music Association award nominations, including Alternative Country Album of the Year, and two Western Canadian Music Award nominations. Kyle was also named a SiriusXM Top of the Country semi-finalist, he placed second in Alberta Music’s Project Wild (for which he was awarded $75,000), and he shared stages with The Black Crowes, Kip Moore, Our Lady Peace and Dean Brody.

Having recently signed on with Canada’s leading country music talent booker, the Sakamoto Agency. Kyle’s live audience will only keep growing. He is poised to announce some high profile shows soon via imkylemckearney.com, but in the meantime, you can get A Traveler’s Lament on your preferred streaming platform HERE.
