Here are your 2022 Ontario Folk Music Award nominees

Folk Music Ontario has just announced the nominees for the Ontario Folk Music Awards.

This year, the categories have been rearranged, and the once-lengthy list of Songs from the Heart award categories – children’s, political, blues, etc. – has been replaced by a single Song of the Year award, as part of a simple line-up of four awards:  song, album, performing artist and recording artist of the year.

The awards will be handed out at a Sunday afternoon event at the end of the FMO conference, which runs from Oct. 13 to 16 in London.

Here are the nominees.

Song of the Year

  • Amanda Rheaume “100 Years”
  • Caroline Marie Brooks – “Night Drive”
  • Julie Title – “Four Horsemen”
  • Samson Wrote – “Little Parts”
  • Sultans of String – “Mi Santuario”

Album of the Year

  • Jeremy Voltz – Weekender
  • John Muirhead – Traveller
  • Shawna Caspi – Hurricane Coming
  • The Sun Harmonic – Coast to Coast
  • The Wanted – Strange Flight

Performing Artist Of The Year

  • Amanda Rheaume
  • Angelique Francis
  • Les Rats d’Swompe
  • Queen Kong
  • Sultans of String

ACTRA RACS Recording Artist Of The Year

  • Jaffa Road
  • Nadjiwan
  • Paul Cafcae
