John Wort Hannam is up for the WCMA for Roots Artist of the Year

The Western Canadian Music Awards unveiled this year’s nominees last Tuesday.

The awards will be handed out during the Breakout West conference and festival Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 in Calgary.

The annual event features daily industry panels, networking events, mentorship sessions, and of course, a festival’s worth of artist showcases featuring artists in all genres.

Here are the nominees in the roots, global and Indigenous categories.
