Little Miss Higgins – Three Days On A Page

“Three Days On A Page” is the first single from Little Miss Higgins’ new album The Fire Waltz, which is set for release on March 14, and we here at Roots Music Canada are excited to premiere it here today.
The Fire Waltz is a multifaceted, music-driven project told through podcast storytelling and a song-cycle album.

Award-winning prairie musician Little Miss Higgins has gathered an incredible team of artists to tell the riveting tale of Eva Bersay, her great-grandmother.

“‘Three Days On A Page’ was inspired by a travel journal from my family,” Miss Higgins said. “This song will appear in Episode 2 of The Fire Waltz mini-series podcast, which is the riveting tale of Eva Bersay, a potato farmer’s daughter and my great-grandmother. Alberta artist Kris Demeanor took the lead on the lyrics of ‘Three Days On A Page,’ with me on guitar and vocals, backed by some of Manitoba’s finest musicians: Gilles Fournier on bass, Joanna Miller on drums and Darwin Baker on harmonica.”

Joined by fellow musician and Calgary’s first Poet Laureate, Kris Demeanor, playwright and director at Ghost River Theatre, Eric Rose, Winnipeg singer-songwriter Matt Foster, and many more, Miss Higgins has created a one-of-a-kind audio experience with The Fire Waltz.

Inspired by postcards, photographs, a travel journal and stories collected from family members, it follows Eva on her journey to Canada from Jersey Island off the coast of France during the early 1900s.

The first episode of the podcast will be released on February 14, and there will be weekly episodes until the final chapter on March 14, which will coincide with The Fire Waltz album release day.
