It takes place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET.
The event is to celebrate the opening of Buffy Sainte-Marie: Pathfinder, a retrospective exhibition that runs July 3 to Sept. 11 at the Penticton Art Gallery on Syilx territory.
“Buffy’s 2020 2RMX virtual performance touched the hearts and spirits of all who were fortunate to view it,” the organizers said in a news release, “as she recorded it literally in her own backyard, amongst the beauty of her rainforest garden. We are forever grateful for Buffy to gift us with this intimate sharing of her life, her work, her talents, her story, her strength, her love.
“It is with strength in spirit but profound sadness in our hearts that we also acknowledge and honour the ongoing and devastating confirmations of ever more stolen Indigenous children in unmarked graves at former residential school sites across Turtle Island. All people, but especially Indigenous peoples, need to be surrounded by expressions of value, love and honour as the families and communities are overwhelmed with grief and pain. This is our purpose, why we carry on in difficult times to bring Indigenous voices like Buffy’s – voices of love, compassion and healing – to the forefront.”
