Adrian Sutherland from Midnight Shine has released a brand new single

Adrian Sutherland, the founder and frontman of roots rockers Midnight Shine, released a brand new single last week, and it rocks pretty hard, both literally and figuratively.
Adrian, who previously worked in business development in his home community of Attawapiskat First Nation describes “Respect the Gift” as an upbeat song of celebration.
“’Respect the Gift‘ is about using our ‘gifts’ for good and not taking for granted the everyday freedoms and luxuries we have,” he said about his second solo single. “There’s never been a more important time to appreciate all that we find precious, especially given the world we’re living in today,”
Adrian wrote the song a year ago with brothers Chris Gormley and Matt Gormley – the same songwriting team behind Adrian’s solo debut, “Politician Man.”
“Respect the Gift” was essentially completed in January 2020, but as the pandemic unfolded, Adrian and his team decided to wait for a better time to release it. That time is now, they decided.
“Anyone who hears this song just feels happy, it has a positive vibe, and it’s a great dance tune,” Adrian said. “We found this out when I played the demo for my family for the very first time. They all jumped up and started dancing – including my two-year-old grandson, Ezra! It was an unexpected moment, and it made us realize we have something pretty special here.”
“Respect the Gift” was produced and mixed by Carl Jennings, who also performs on the track along with Adrian and the Gormley brothers. It was engineered by Darren Magierowski and Jill Zimmermann at Jukasa Recording Studios in Ohsweken ON on Six Nations of the Grand River territory and mastered by João Carvalho at João Carvalho Mastering in Toronto. The beautiful artwork for the single was designed by Nashville’s Nick Perreault, who is formerly of St. John’s, NL.
Word is there is a super-cool dance music video for the track coming soon. Meanwhile, have a listen to the song.
