Holiday recipes from our favourite artists: Tennyson King’s homemade eggnog

Here at Roots Music Canada, we, like you, have been more than a little bummed about being stuck at home for the last few months, unable to see live music or spend holidays with our loved ones out of town.

Like many people, we’ve been taking solace in the simple things in life: gardening, crafts, cooking — that kind of thing.

Given that so many of us are in that frame of mind this year, we decided to do something a little different this holiday season: we asked some of our favourite artists to share a recipe with us.

Tennyson King has shared a couple of very pleasing electronically-enhanced folk-pop tracks with us this year – you can check out the videos below – and we’re super happy he also agreed to share his recipe for homemade eggnog with us too.

In fact, he made the best video for us to demonstrate the recipe.  You can see that below too.

Tennyson writes:

Hey Roots Music Canada family,

Thanks for asking me to share my favourite holiday recipe.  One of my favourite drinks during the holidays is a nice strong rum-based eggnog made from scratch. Check out the video I made for you with a step-by-step instruction on how to make TK’s Eggnog Special.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 eggs
  • Nutmeg – 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon – 1 tablespoon
  • Heavy cream (whipping cream) – ½ cup
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Sugar – ¼ cup
  • Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon

Enjoy and Happy Holidays.

Peace & Love

Tennyson King
