The Barrel Boys – ‘Going Fishing’

The Barrel Boys have recorded a brand new single that’s perfectly suited to a summer of physical distancing, and we’re super stoked to premiere it here on Roots Music Canada.

“Going Fishing” is the first official single from the Toronto bluegrass/folk group’s third album, Mainline, which is set for release on Sept. 18.

Produced by Canadian mandolin icon and decorated engineer/producer Andrew Collins, Mainline is jam-packed with new original material penned by each of the band’s five members.

With this project, the band digs deeper into the sounds of traditional bluegrass, classic country, folk, and new acoustic music, which is evident on their new single, a track that explores why a new dad might take up fishing.

“Ever wondered what to get a new father with two kids under three?” asked guitarist Ben Wright.  “A time consuming, expensive hobby that requires hours of driving! This song is a romantic look back on my first day fly-fishing on the Madawaska River. I caught two fish, three branches, and a few trophy logs.”

“Going Fishing” will be available tomorrow on Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes and other digital retailers and streaming services. For more information, please visit: www.thebarrelboys.com.
