In case you missed them, here are the 2020 ECMA winners in the roots categories

The East Coast Music Awards were handed out this past weekend in a ceremony that, like all others this year, was not a ceremony at all but rather a pre-produced, physically distanced video production streamed live online.  As always, the winners list demonstrates just how much the east coast punches above its weight in the Canadian music scene.  Here’s who won the roots and Indigenous categories this year (it appears they didn’t hand out a world music award).

Blues Recording of the Year:  Myles Goodwyn – Myles Goodwyn and Friends of the Blues 2

Contemporary Roots Recording of the Year: The East Pointers – Yours to Break

Country Recording of the Year: Dave Sampson – All Types of Ways

Folk Recording of the Year:  Tim Baker – Forever Overhead

Indigenous Artist of the Year:  Eastern Owl

Roots / Traditional Recording of the Year: Natalie MacMaster – Sketches
