Q&A (Quarrington and Adams) – “C’mon Midnight”

The Canadian duo of Tony Quarrington and Zoey Adams (also known as Q&A) is gearing up to release its brand new holiday project, Christmas Dream on Friday on Sonic Peach Music – and we’re thrilled to be premiering a track today here on Roots Music Canada.
Who is Q&A? Tony Quarrington, the “Q,” is an in-demand guitarist, songwriter, composer, arranger and vocalist. Zoey Adams, the “A,” is an expressive singer, whose style ranges from sultry to tongue-in-cheek. Together they have written and recorded 14 new seasonal songs that celebrate Christmas (and New Year!) in all its moods and foibles.
These are singable tunes with witty lyrics, clever arrangements, excellent musicianship, and great vocals. Styles represented include big band, country, jazz ballad, Gypsy jazz, western swing, Christmas novelty, folk, and Motown.
“Swinging Old Saint Nick,” the jazzy, humorous opening track, features catchy duo vocals and six punchy horns with guitar and piano solos in an up-tempo big band arrangement.
“Christmas Dream,” the title track, will remind listeners of older carols and seasonal songs.
“MacSwizzlewort,” the mysterious Christmas cat, is an erratic tempo novelty tune that will appeal to adults and children of all ages.
And “Missing Mistletoe” is a bouncy western swing/Americana tune, a humorous duo track exploring the alternatives to traditional mistletoe (broccoli and matzo balls anyone?).
One of the folkier songs on the album is “C’mon Midnight,” so that’s the one we’re sharing with you today. Enjoy!
