Geneviève Racette – ‘Sans toi’ video
Earlier this month, Montreal’s Geneviève Racette released Part One, a three-song EP derived from her forthcoming bilingual sophomore album No Water, No Flowers, which includes two English songs, “Northern Star” and “Parachute,” as well as the francophone track “Sans toi.” Today Geneviève is proud to announce that she has released a live music video for “Sans toi” with an exclusive premiere here on Roots Music Canada.
Geneviève is a singer-songwriter from Montreal, who was nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year at the Sirius XM Indie Awards in 2015. Her music has been featured on SiriusXM francophone radio, ICI Musique and other stations across Quebec, and she has shared the stage with artists such as Damien Robitaille, François Lachance, Valérie Carpentier, Ben Kunder and others.
Initially, Geneviève was hired by a friend to write music to the lyrics of “Sans toi,” a song about missing someone. She quickly fell in love with the track and knew it had to be on her new record.
“While working on ‘Sans toi,’ I felt an intense connection to the song, and it was then that I couldn’t imagine anyone else singing it but myself,” she said.
No Water, No Flowers, Geneviève’s first bilingual album, is being released in three parts; Part One in February, Part Two in April and the full album in May 2019. This sophomore album highlights the growth Geneviève has endured as an adult since the release of her album Les aurores boréales. With her delicate voice, she effortlessly transports you into a warm, cozy folk-pop atmosphere while sharing the most personal collection of songs she has created yet, covering themes of life, death, grief, love and travels.
