Hugh’s Room Radio: listen to the music you love

After ten years on the scene, Hugh’s Room is generally acknowledged to be the best listening room in Toronto when it comes to folk and roots music. It’s no stretch to say it’s one of the best clubs in Canada, the stage where the likes of Jesse Winchester and Leon Redbone have headlined, along with countless local, national and international acts.

Now the folks at Hugh’s Room have teamed up with our friends at Mediazoic to create a custom Internet radio station featuring performers who ply their trade at Hugh’s Room. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you’ll hear the best folk and roots musicians in North America. It’s a great tool for those wanting to keep up to date on upcoming concerts, and a boon for folk music fans.

It’s got us wondering: What would a station from Gus’ Pub in Halifax sound like? Or LopLops in Sault Ste. Marie? Or the Calgary Folk Festival, for that matter… to name only a few.

Whose choices would YOU like to hear in an online radio stream? Let us know in the comments below!

I love it! Not only does it kickstart memories of great shows I’ve been to but…anything that helps to market the best soundroom/place to see a show in Toronto is fine by me. Richard and Holmes do an outstanding job of appealing to music lovers with a delicate blend of homegrown to international acts and the venue should be full every night – for the Oatmeal Stout alone! But I actually believe this location should be a regular stop on any music lover’s social calendar.

Sign me up to put together playlists or do any hostessing duties; or if you’d like some more special doc-style podcasts perhaps..??

    Yours from radio-land,
