The Road to Winnipeg and CFMA pt.1

We are thrilled to be going to Winnipeg to broadcast the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Awards on Saturday, November 20 – it’s the first time this wonderful event has ever been seen or heard live beyond  theatre walls. Of course this opportunity is only made possible by a series of private donations and corporate sponsorships, monies we raised the old fashioned way: by asking. So for the benefit of those supporters and the many others who wish to see the broadcast be a success, we think it might be fun for you to get a peek behind the scenes as our skeleton crew assembles the show, and to meet several of the artists who are nominated in 2010.

First, meet the frankcasting new media crew that will be sending you the images and sound from Pantages Playhouse in Winnipeg, Saturday November 20, 2010 beginning at 8:00 PM EST.  In order of appearance:  Producer Andy Frank, camera operators Katelyn Adach and Robert Howard, and director Rick Scicluna.

In November of 2009, Roots Music Canada went on its first assignment: the CFMA in Ottawa, Ontario. We spoke with award-winners shortly after they received their hardware. Included in this video are double-winner Chris McKhool (solo, and representing Sultans of String), Susan Crowe, Tony McManus, Catherine MacLellan, James Hill, Colette Cheverie, Madison Violet, and Good Lovelies (featuring guest interviewer, CFMA co-host Shelagh Rogers).

Tomorrow: Meet CFMA 2010 nominees Ian Tamblyn and Dala in exclusive Roots Music Canada interviews.
