Off to Ottawa for OCFF
So what’s the deal with OCFF you ask? Good question. Here’s what their website says:
The Mission: The Ontario Council of Folk Festivals supports the growth and development of folk music in Ontario by supporting the growth and development of presenters and performers. The Vision: By 2015, the OCFF will have facilitated a stronger, more engaged, connected and active folk music community in Ontario. (visit the OCFF site, lots of interesting reading there)
Some 800 delegates from all around the world will be there in 2010, because frankly, the OCFF’s impact is felt nationwide and beyond. Naturally, for us at Roots Music Canada, it’s the only place to be this weekend, and we are participating in a number of ways: RMC produced a ten minute film introducing the 2010 Estelle Klein Award winner, Grit Laskin of Borealis Records, that will be viewed by hundreds of delegates at the gala dinner. RMC will also record a delightful set of music featuring established mentors with talented students of the songwriting and performing craft.
Finally, RMC is very proud to present an outstanding Private Showcase Friday and Saturday evenings. Previous posts on this site describe the players in detail, with performance videos, and here is the gorgeous poster designed by one of Roots Music Canada’s sponsored attendees, Janine Stoll. We’ll be reporting lots of OCFF related news on our Facebook page, and on this site, in the days to come.
