It’s editor Gordy the Moose here. Hear me out for a moment, ok?
So here’s the thing: we’ve got Roots Music Canada back online, and that’s amazing! I nearly put a hoof through our managing editor’s wall the other day I was so excited.
But we’re going to need your help if we’re going to keep it here.
Would you please become a patron of the site over here at our Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/rootsmusiccanada?
In order for this site to be sustainable long-term, we need to raise $1,000/month U.S.
That money will pay the overhead costs of the site, like its server space and domain registration. It will also pay our managing editor a small stipend to keep the site ticking along so it doesn’t die out from pure volunteer burn-out.
If you love reading about roots music, or if you are a roots musician who benefits from coverage on a site like this, please chip in a few bucks. Even ONE BUCK!
Look, I know you get hit up for fundraisers all the time, and it’s tempting to think that what you can afford won’t make a difference, but it does. If even half the people who like our Facebook page donated one buck a month, we’d have so much money, we’d be paying writers and everything!
If you’re a record label, a publicist, a promoter, a Festival AD, or anybody else with a whole bunch o’ stuff to promote, please take a look at the organizational sponsorship levels. If you support the site to the tune of $25 or $100 a month, you get your own login and posting privileges here.
So folks, please do what you can. I know it’s tempting to wait for someone else to help, but if our community was that big, our artists would be getting covered in the National Post, and they’re not.
If we want a home for Canadian roots on the web, a place where popular artists, emerging artists, traditional artists, world artists, cool artists and UNcool artists can all interact with fans, well folks, we need to build that home for ourselves.
Will you help?
A thousand moose hugs to everyone who has chipped in so far. I love each and every one of you.
