Roots Music Canada is endeavouring to webcast the sixth-annual Canadian Folk Music Awards from the Pantages Playhouse in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and we need your help to make it happen! As you can see by the graph on the right of the page, we are over 50% of the way there thanks to sponsorships by folk music fans like you, three record labels, a few small businesses, several well-known artists, CFMA and Roots Music Canada.  We’ve made it super easy to donate at several levels.

This is the first time the CFMA will be broadcast live in any media. Roots Music Canada will begin the live stream of the event an hour before the show begins, at which time we will feature interviews with selected nominees, performers, and show hosts Benoit Bourque and Shelagh Rogers. Who are the favourites? Who’s creating a buzz? Who are they wearing? (that might be interesting at a gathering of folk musicians in November’s Winnipeg). Then, Roots Music Canada’s three cameras and on-air host Andy Frank will capture the entire ceremony, including 10 live performances by the likes of Stephen Fearing, Madagascar Slim, Annabelle Chvostek, The Once and many more.

20 CFMA will be handed out; see the full list of nominees, which include Dala, David Francey, Le Vent du Nord, Amelia Curran, Justin Rutledge, Matt Andersen, Beyond The Pale, and Miss Emily Brown.

Help us shine a bright international light on some of the best folk/roots music Canada has to offer the world.

Any questions can be addressed to Andy Frank, andy@rootsmusic.ca, 416-206-0007. Thank you.
