Ottawa Folk Festival

We continue our 2010 Folk/Roots Summer Festival season coverage with a trip up the King’s Highway 416  to Ottawa for the Ottawa Folk Festival. Now celebrating its sixteenth anniversary, it has been staged at Britannia Park – located in the north-west of the city along the Ottawa River – for all but the first of those years.

New Festival Director Dylan Griffith and his team assembled a diverse lineup of talent for the three-day event, ranging from lots of traditional folk to headliners Arrested Development.  The festival featured a deliciously wide array of food and drink, arts and crafts,  educational workshops by the Ottawa Folklore Centre, an instrument petting zoo,  and five stages of music.

In this video, you’ll hear from Foggy Hogtown Boys, Jon Brooks, Sonny Ochs (Phil Ochs’ sister), Krista Muir, Coco Love Alcorn (8.5 months pregnant and still, belting out her hits), Frank Turner, Gareth Pearson, and your host, moi.
